Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 20-701-31, Installation of Disc Filters and Other Improvements at the Hanover Park Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this Contract is to replace the existing traveling bridge filter beds with disc filters, which will increase the capacity and reduce maintenance in filter beds three and four. Other improvements include the replacement of the sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite tanks, lining of the effluent conduits, rehabilitation of the effluent conduit vault, and replacement of the service water pumps.  

 

The estimated cost for this Contract is $3,600,000.00.

 

The bid deposit for this Contract is $180,000.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this Contract.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D will be included in this Contract. The type of work to be performed under the Contract is within the “Mechanical” category for establishing Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE), Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and Small Business Enterprises (SBE) utilization goals. The associated individual tailored goals for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprises (WBE) and Veteran-Owned Business Enterprises (VBE) are: 13% MBE and/or WBE, 10% SBE, and 3% VBE. 

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Bid Opening                                          October 6, 2020

Award                                                               January 7, 2021

Completion                                           June 30, 2022

                    

Funds are available in Account 401-50000-645650.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 20-701-31.
