Report on rejection of bids for Contract 26-624-11, Main Street Bridge Expansion Joint Replacement, estimated cost $220,000.00

Dear Sir:
On June 4, 2026, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids Contract 26-624-11, Main Street Bridge Expansion Joint Replacement.
In response to a public advertisement of September 16, 2026, a bid opening was held on October 13, 2026. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
PATH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY INC $484,499.99
A review by the Maintenance and Operations Department of the sole bid submitted by Path Construction Company, Inc. (Path) has indicated that the bid is considered too high over the engineer’s estimate. The sole bid received is approximately 120% over the engineer’s estimate.
Therefore, the Maintenance and Operations Department recommends rejecting the sole bid. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management concurs and has rejected the bid from Path based on the above information and in the public’s best interest. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified Path of this action.
The Maintenance and Operations Department will review the scope of work and engineer’s estimate to evaluate options for completing the work.
