Authority to settle the General Liability Claim of Nation Pizza and Foods Claim # AP 1531, in the sum of $74,393.83, arising out of the July 10, 2022, Nation Pizza and Foods Sewer Line Obstruction, Account 901-30000-667220

Dear Sir:
On July 10, 2022, Nation Pizza and Foods (“Nation Pizza”) in Schaumburg, Illinois began experiencing sanitary sewer backups. Multiple backups continued until August 19, 2022. An investigation determined that the backups were caused by District sampling activities.
Nation Pizza made a subrogation demand to the District for reimbursement of its plumbing and cleanup costs. In support of this demand, Nation Pizza submitted documentation which District staff have carefully reviewed for appropriateness and accuracy. Based on that review, District staff recommend making a payment of $74,393.83 to Nation Pizza in exchange for a full release of liability.
The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests that payment in the amount of $74,393.83 to Nation Pizza be approved and that she be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effectuate the settlement.
