COMMITTEE ON ENGINEERING
Mr. Richard Lanyon, Executive Director
Title
Authority to approve and execute permanent subterranean and temporary easements from the Village of South Holland for the Tollway Dam, Grout Curtain and Quarry Plug, Thornton Composite Reservoir, Calumet Service Area (04-201-4F, ROW File 3), consideration shall be ten dollars ($10.00), Account 401-50000-667340
Body
Dear Sir:
In connection with the captioned project, it is necessary to acquire both permanent subterranean and temporary easements from the Village of South Holland for the construction, operation and maintenance of a grout curtain and other facilities for the Thornton Composite Reservoir.
The permanent subterranean easement is required for constructing a grout curtain in the rock beneath the surface, to reduce infiltration of groundwater into the reservoir and exfiltration of polluted water out of the reservoir. The temporary easement is required to provide the contractor with sufficient work area to stage their activities.
The consideration for the acquisition of the easements from the Village of South Holland is ten dollars ($10.00).
Funds are available in Account 401-50000-667340.
It is respectfully requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it accept and approve the easements from the Village of South Holland to the District in connection with the captioned project and that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said easement from the Village of South Holland on behalf of the District after it is approved by the Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
Requested, Joseph P. Sobanski, Director of Engineering, WSS:AP
Recommended, Richard Lanyon, Executive Director
Respectfully Submitted, Frank Avila, Chairman Committee on Engineering
