Body
Dear Sir:
The City of Chicago, Department of Streets & Sanitation (DSS), has requested a permit to use a 10-foot x 10-foot section of District land between Taylor Street and Roosevelt Road along the south bank of the Chicago River to install a concrete pad, a small electric crane to offload its new skimmer boat used to collect debris in the river, and a roll-off box. DSS has indicated that it will provide containerization and disposal for all debris collected at the site. It is proposed that the District issue the City a 5-year permit for the subject use.
The City has requested a waiver of the $5,000.00 indemnity bond. There are no objections to this request. The permit will otherwise be subject to the District’s standard requirements and any conditions imposed by the District’s technical departments. The District’s debris boat will also use the site to dispose of debris it collects.
It is requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and approve the issuance of a 5-year permit to the City of Chicago, Department of Streets & Sanitation, to use a 10-foot x 10-foot area of District land between Taylor Street and Roosevelt Road along the south bank of the Chicago River to install a concrete pad and an electric crane for debris removal purposes subject to the terms and conditions stated herein. Consideration shall be $10.00.
It is further requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said permit agreement after it is approved by the Attorney as to form and legality.
Requested, Frederick M. Feldman, Attorney, FMF:CL:STM:nm
