Dear Sir:
At the Board meeting held on October 3, 2024, the Board of Commissioners declared an emergency affecting public health and safety at the Main Office Building Annex, 111 E. Erie Street, Chicago, Illinois 60611, with a termination date of February 25, 2025. At the Board meeting held on June 5, 2025, the Board of Commissioners authorized an extension of the emergency declaration, establishing a revised termination date of December 31, 2025.
As of November 5, 2025, all employees have returned to the office, however, additional items have been identified that are necessary to complete the project. All expenses related to the flood are being tracked and the District will seek reimbursement from the owner and operator of the hotel property on floors 8-20.
In consideration of the above, and in accordance with Section 11.5 of the Purchasing Act, it is requested that the Board of Commissioners ratify the action taken by the Executive Director to extend the declaration of the emergency affecting public health and safety at Main Office Building Annex, 111 E. Erie Street, Chicago, Illinois 60611 from a termination date of December 31, 2025, to a termination date of March 31, 2026
