RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing October as LGBT History Month and honoring Tracy Baim
Body
WHEREAS, since 1994, October has been recognized as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) History Month. The celebration, which began in Missouri, is now embraced throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of LGBT History Month, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is honoring Tracy Baim; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Baim, a native of Chicago, is a renowned LGBT journalist. Graduating from Drake University in 1984 with a degree in journalism, Ms. Baim has worked for a number of publications including Windy City Times and Outlines, both of which she was a founding contributor; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Baim has been the recipient of a number of awards including the Chicago Torch Award presented by the Human Rights Campaign Fund, the Community Media Workshop’s Studs Terkel Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Chicago Headline Club, and the Fueling the Frontline Award; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby recognize October as LGBT History Month and honor Tracy Baim; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
