Dear Sir:
On March 16, 2017, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids Contract 16-803-21, Furnish, Deliver and Install HVAC Systems at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant.
In response to a public advertisement of May 24, 2017, a bid opening was held on June 13, 2017. The sole bidder was rejected, as reported, at the July 6, 2017 Board Meeting.
In response to a public re-advertisement of July 26, 2017, a bid opening was held on August 15, 2017. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
AMBER MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS, INC. $378,000.00
Six hundred forty-eight (648) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and twenty-one (21) companies requested specifications.
The sole bid, submitted by Amber Mechanical Contractors, Inc., is approximately 110 percent above the estimate, and is considered too high for an award. Therefore, the Director of Procurement and Materials Management has informed Amber Mechanical Contractors, Inc., that their bid is rejected in the public’s best interest.
The Maintenance and Operations Department will review the specifications and estimated cost prior to re-advertising the contract.
