Authority to pay 2020 real estate taxes in the amount of $550,503.94 for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s real estate located in Will County, Illinois.  Account 101-30000-667130

Dear Sir:

 

Pursuant to the Illinois Property Tax Code, 35 ILCS 200/15-143, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (“District”) is responsible for the real estate taxes on land owned and located outside of Cook County, unless specifically exempt.

 

The District has now received the 2020 real estate tax bills for its non-exempt real estate in Will County, Illinois.  The District’s Will County land holdings are organized under 21 separate permanent index numbers.  The 2020 taxes due for the District’s Will County properties is $550,503.94.  Of this total amount, $494,766.28, or 89.88%, is owed on the properties necessary to operate the Lockport Powerhouse and Lockport Controlling Works.

 

The first installment of the 2020 taxes in the amount of $137,626.04 is due on or before June 3, 2021; the second installment in the amount of $137,625.93 is due on or before August 3, 2021; the third installment in the amount of $137,626.04 is due on or before September 3, 2021; and the fourth installment in the amount of $137,625.93 is due on or before November 3, 2021.

 

Accordingly, it is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and approve the timely payment of the 2020 real estate taxes on the District’s non-exempt property in Will County, Illinois, in the aggregate amount of $550,503.94, in one installment of $137,626.04 due on June 3, 2021; one installment of $137,625.93 due on August 3, 2021; one installment of $137,626.04 due on September 3, 2021; and one installment of $137,625.93 due on November 3, 2021.

 

It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to issue four checks: one check in the amount of $137,626.04 before June 3, 2021; one check in the amount of $137,625.93 before August 3, 2021; one check in the amount of $137,626.04 before September 3, 2021; and one check in the amount of $137,625.93 before November 3, 2021, all checks payable to the Will County Treasurer for the 2020 real estate taxes on District’s non-exempt property in Will County, Illinois.

 

Funds are available in Account 101-30000-667130.
