RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF MAY 20, 2021

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners honoring former Oak Park Village President/Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb
Body
WHEREAS, on May 6, 2013, Anan Abu-Taleb was elected to serve as the President/Mayor of the Village of Oak Park. On May 3, 2021, Mr. Abu-Taleb passed the torch to the new Village President/Mayor, as he chose not to seek re-election for a third term; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, Mr. Abu-Taleb graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 2000, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, during his two terms in office, Mr. Abu-Taleb placed infrastructure and economic development at the forefront of his agenda. As such, the Village of Oak Park experienced an increase in construction and saw the re-emergence of the Oak Park Economic Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, as a successful restaurant entrepreneur, Mr. Abu-Taleb had a unique perspective that enabled him to focus not only on the financial stability of the Village of Oak Park, but also to prioritize developments that would help the Village to expand and thrive long into the future; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Abu-Taleb plans to continue his business ventures in the restaurant industry with his wife Margi; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby honor former Oak Park Village President/Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb for his hard work and dedication to the residents of the Village of Oak Park; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to former Oak Park Village President/Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb.
