Dear Sir:
On September 7, 2023, a District vehicle driven by employee Ken Thompson was exiting the Bishop Ford Expressway when it struck a vehicle driven by Andrew Frierson near 130th St. and Doty Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, causing damage to Mr. Frierson’s vehicle. In addition, Mr. Frierson sought medical treatment because of the accident.
Mr. Frierson submitted his claim through his insurance carrier, Progressive Universal Insurance Company, except for a portion of the rental car fees. The claim for damages includes costs to repair the vehicle totaling $12,483.56, inclusive of a $250.00 deductible paid by Mr. Frierson, towing fees of $1,327.00, and rental car fees in the amount of $1,186.08. The claimant also paid a total of $434.90 for additional rental car fees. The final amount to resolve the property portion of this claim totals $15,431.54.
The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment in the amount of $15,431.54 be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
