TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF JUNE 6, 2024

COMMITTEE ON ENGINEERING

Mr. Brian A. Perkovich, Executive Director

Title

Authorization for payment to Commonwealth Edison Company, Illinois, for an advanced engineering deposit for work related to Contract 23-379-3E Switchgear and Motor Control Center Replacement, Kirie Water Reclamation Plant, in an amount not to exceed $22,848.00, Account 401-50000-645750

Body

Dear Sir:

Authorization is requested to make payment to Commonwealth Edison Company, Illinois, (ComEd) for an advanced engineering deposit in an amount not to exceed $22,848.00.

In connection with Contract 23-379-3E Switchgear and Motor Control Center Replacement, Kirie Water Reclamation Plant, it is necessary to pay an advanced engineering deposit of $22,848.00. A portion of the work under this contract will be required to be performed by ComEd. This includes: arranging outages and re-energization of 12.47 kV power feeds to Switchgear M11, disconnecting and terminating new secondary cables of 34.5 kV-12.47 kV Transformer Nos. 1 - 4, providing ComEd supervision when the contractor removes and installs new secondary cables and grounding of all four ComEd transformers, decommissioning the existing ComEd automatic throwover functionality, and witness testing and commissioning of the new Switchgear M11 buses, with automatic transfer and the new switchboard at the Majewski Reservoir. The final cost of ComEd’s work will be negotiated and included as part of the advertised contract from which this deposit amount will be subtracted. ComEd will be involved during our design. ComEd’s latest business model now requires an advanced engineering deposit be paid to engage its staff and provide the necessary design input.

It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize payment, by direct voucher to ComEd, in an amount not to exceed $22,848.00. Funds are available in Account 401-50000-645750.

Requested, Catherine A. O’Connor, Director of Engineering, GMR:NBP

Recommended, Brian A. Perkovich, Executive Director
