Dear Sir:
Authorization is requested to reimburse registration fees Commissioners and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) employees to attend the 2024 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibit and Conference (WEFTEC) being held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from October 5, 2024 to October 9, 2024, in an amount not to exceed $28,600.00.
Since its formation in 1927, WEFTEC has been holding annual meetings to provide a forum for knowledge and technology exchange within the water and wastewater fields. Today, WEFTEC - WEF’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference - will be conducted as an in-person event and will continue to offer the best water quality education and training available, as it continues to be a leading source for water quality developments, research, regulations, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies. Since 1927, District employees have participated in WEFTEC.
As WEFTEC 2024 is not available through any other source, nothing would be gained by advertising for bids (Section 11.4 of the Purchasing Act).
It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize reimbursement of registration fees for Commissioners and District employees, in an amount not to exceed $28,600.00.
Funds are available in Accounts 101-11000, 15000, 16000, 27000, 50000, 66000, 67000, 69000-601100.
