COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY

Mr. Brian A. Perkovich, Executive Director

Title

Authority to settle the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Claim of Matthew Dillon vs. MWRDGC, Claim Number 23WC025664 in the sum of $25,929.21, Account 901-30000-601090

Body

Dear Sir:

Matthew Dillon is an Electrical Mechanic Sub-Foreman at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant. On September 15, 2023, Mr. Dillon reported that while hurrying up the stairs to attend a meeting, he slipped from the top stair, falling backwards down the flight of stairs onto the concrete, landing on both hands and injuring his right shoulder. Mr. Dillon was transported to the hospital and was diagnosed with right arm humerus fracture.

Mr. Dillon was not paid any lost time benefits.

Mr. Dillon filed an Application of Adjustment of Claim with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) through his counsel. Subject to the approval of the IWCC, this case can be settled for $25,929.21 representing approximately 10.0% loss of use of the right arm. This settlement will close out any future lost time and medical benefits associated with this injury.

The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment of that sum be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.

Requested, Thaddeus J. Kosowski, Director of Human Resources, TJK:BLW:DMG
