Authority to advertise Contract 22-RFP-02 Medicare Advantage Plan, for a three-year period, effective January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025, Account 101-25000-601250

Dear Sir:

 

Request for Proposal documents are being prepared for a Medicare Advantage Plan provider at the request of the Human Resources Department. 

 

The purpose of this contract is to select a qualified carrier to provide a fully-insured group Medicare Advantage Plan including prescription drug coverage for Medicare-eligible retirees.  The program will be a national PPO plan as it is currently.  The plan design including the deductibles, co-insurance, annual maximum out-of-pocket limit, and prescription drug co-payment structure will remain the same as under the current program.  The services are currently provided by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Corporation.  The current contract expires December 31, 2022. 

 

No bid deposit is required for this request for proposal.

 

The Diversity Section reviewed the Request for Proposal and determined that Appendix A should be included in this contract.  The Affirmative Action Goals for this Request for Proposal are 20% Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), 10% Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                                                               March 16, 2022

Proposals Received                                          April 15, 2022

Award                                                                                    July 14, 2022

Completion                                                               December 31, 2025

 

Funds for years 2023, 2024 and 2025 are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 22-RFP-02.
